Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War continued its historic start on Tuesday with an estimated $23.4 million. In the process, Avengers: Infinity War zoomed past the $300 million domestic mark yesterday
and has grossed $305.9 M through five days of release. That ties Avengers: Infinity War with 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the quickest film to reach the $300 million domestic mark. Avengers: Infinity War
registered the second largest five-day start of all-time; trailing only the $325.438 million five-day launch of The Force Awakens (by 6.0 percent). In comparison to other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) event films,
Avengers: Infinity War is running 16.3 percent ahead of the recent $263.013 million five-day start of Black Panther and 25.4 percent ahead of the $244.015 million five-day haul of 2012’s
Marvel’s The Avengers. |
Avengers: Infinity War claimed the seventh largest Tuesday gross of all-time and the third largest non-opening day first-Tuesday gross of all-time, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens
($37.362 million) and 2015’s Jurassic World ($24.343 million). Tuesday’s gross was 12.2 percent stronger than the $20.857 million first-Tuesday gross of Black Panther and an impressive 32.4 percent stronger than the
$17.678 million first-Tuesday gross of Marvel’s The Avengers. Avengers: Infinity War declined 5.4 percent from Monday’s performance. When dealing with daily grosses of this magnitude, it is commonplace for films to
experience daily percentage declines from Monday on their first Tuesday. |
Internationally, Avengers: Infinity War grossed a terrific $64.5 million yesterday. Tuesday’s international performance was helped out by the May Day holiday in a number of markets.
Avengers: Infinity War passed the $500 million international mark yesterday and has grossed $502.5 million internationally to date. That brings the current global total for the film to a massive $808.4 million. Yesterday,
Avengers: Infinity War passed the global totals of a number of additional Marvel films, including 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, 2016’s
Deadpool and 2004’s Spider-Man 2. |
International totals through Tuesday for Avengers: Infinity War include $48.7 million in South Korea, $48.3 million in the U.K., $36.4 million in Mexico, $28.4 million in Brazil, $26.0 million in India,
$25.7 million in Australia, $24.1 million in France, $21.1 million in Germany, $16.0 million in the Philippines, $15.9 million in Indonesia, $14.9 million in Italy, $13.3 million in Japan, $12.5 million in Taiwan,
$12.4 million in Spain and $12.2 million in Thailand. |
Paramount’s A Quiet Place held steady in second with $1.144 million. That represented a 28.0 percent increase over Monday and a respectable 44.0 percent decrease
from last Tuesday. Yesterday saw A Quiet Place surpass the $150 million domestic mark; making it just the third release of 2018 thus far to do so. The 26-day total for A Quiet Place
stands at a much stronger than expected $150.566 million. |
STXfilms’ I Feel Pretty took in $1.063 million to remain in third place. I Feel Pretty was up 48.3 percent over Monday and down a solid 41.3 percent from last
Tuesday. I Feel Pretty continues to run in line with expectations with a twelve-day take of $31.401 million. That places the film 10.2 percent behind the $34.974 million twelve-day gross
of last year’s Snatched. |
Warner Bros. and New Line’s Rampage continued to claim fourth with $744,374. Rampage increased 49.8 percent over Monday and decreased a sharp 60.7 percent
from last Tuesday (when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). Rampage has grossed a respectable $79.272 million in 19 days and continues to perform significantly stronger
internationally. |
Disney’s Black Panther rounded out the day’s unchanged top five with $479,309. That represented a slim 11.2 percent increase over Monday and a decrease of just
27.5 percent from last Tuesday. Black Panther has grossed a massive $689.275 million in 75 days, which leaves the film just $10.725 million away from reaching the $700 million domestic
milestone. |
