After falling to a close second place over the weekend, Paramount’s A Quiet Place returned to first place at the daily box office on Monday with $2.636 million. A Quiet Place has now led the daily
box office for eight of the past eleven days. A Quiet Place was down 70.6 percent from Sunday and a very solid 36.8 percent from last Monday. The eleven-day breakout total for A Quiet Place stands at $102.642 million.
That places A Quiet Place an impressive 29.9 percent ahead of the $78.998 million eleven-day start of last year’s Split. |
Warner Bros. and New Line’s Rampage fell to a close second on Monday with $2.514 million. Rampage trailed A Quiet Place by just $121,654 for the day. Rampage was down 75.7 percent from
Sunday’s performance, which suggests that there is a significant family component to the film’s overall audience. The four-day launch for Rampage stands at $38.267 million, which is right in line with expectations.
Rampage is running a slim 3.2 percent behind the $39.543 million four-day haul of 2016’s Central Intelligence. |
Universal’s Truth or Dare claimed third with $1.003 million. That represented a 71.8 percent decline from Sunday’s performance. The four-day start for Truth or Dare stands at a stronger than expected
$19.670 million, as the film has been able to co-exist with fellow PG-13 horror film A Quiet Place thus far. Truth or Dare is running 18.0 percent ahead of the $16.668 million four-day take of 2015’s
Unfriended and 28.2 percent behind the $27.406 million four-day gross of last year’s Happy Death Day. |
Warner’s Ready Player One took fourth place with $955,760. Ready Player One was down 73.5 percent from Sunday and down a respectable 42.4 percent from last
Monday (when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). The 19-day total for Ready Player One stands at $115.878 million. That is in line with expectations and places the film 12.3 percent ahead of the
$103.215 million 19-day take of 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. |
Universal’s Blockers rounded out Monday’s top five with $933,510. Blockers trailed Ready Player One by only $22,250 for the day. Blockers declined 68.3 percent from Sunday and a
solid 35.0 percent from last Monday. Blockers has grossed $38.337 million through eleven days. That is on the high end of expectations, though Blockers is also displaying some initial front-loading for a critically
acclaimed comedy. |
