Daily Box Office Report
Wednesday, February 21, 2018

By Daniel Garris

Disneyís Black Panther continued to easily lead the daily box office on Wednesday with a daily take of $14.688 M. That represented the largest Wednesday gross ever for a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it outpaced the $13.613 M grossed by previous high-mark holder Marvelís The Avengers back in 2012 by 7.9 percent. On Wednesday, Black Panther declined a solid 29.6 percent from its performance on Tuesday.

Black Panther continues to fly past all expectations with a massive six-day start of $277.701 M. That represents the fourth largest six-day launch of all-time; behind only 2015ís Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($363.460 M), slightly behind last yearís Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($278.710 M) and just behind 2015ís Jurassic World ($278.389 M). Black Panther is running an exceptional 7.8 percent ahead of the $257.628 M six-day take of Marvelís The Avengers. Given the filmís terrific word of mouth, excellent critical reviews and strong daily holds thus far, BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Black Panther will have the second highest second weekend gross of all-time with $108.0 M this coming weekend.

Internationally, Black Panther passed the $200 M international mark on Wednesday after grossing an estimated $14.5 M for the day. To date, Black Panther has grossed $213.6 M internationally and $491.3 M globally. International totals through Wednesday for Black Panther include $30.4 M in the U.K., $29.5 M in South Korea, $12.5 M in Brazil, $11.6 M in Mexico, $11.6 M in Australia, $10.3 M in France, $8.5 M in Taiwan, $7.6 M in Indonesia and $7.2 M in Germany.
