Disney’s Coco grossed $1.110 M on Monday to lead the daily box office for a 20th consecutive day. Coco declined 81.7 percent from Sunday and just 25.8 percent from last Monday, as the
critically acclaimed computer animated film continues to display healthy holding power. The 20-day total for Coco stands at $136.768 M. In comparison to previous Disney Thanksgiving weekend openers, Coco is
running 17.6 percent ahead of the $116.268 M 20-day take of 2010’s Tangled and only 6.2 percent behind the $145.880 M 20-day haul of last year’s Moana. |
Warner’s Justice League placed in second with $743 K. That represented a 73.0 percent decrease from Sunday and a solid 34.7 percent decline from last Monday. Justice League has grossed a
softer than expected $212.873 M through 25 days of release. Justice League is running an underwhelming 25.1 percent behind the $284.082 M 25-day take of last year’s Suicide Squad and will obviously be taking a
direct hit from the release of Disney’s highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Friday. |
Lionsgate’s Wonder followed closely behind in third place with $722 K. Wonder was down 69.3 percent from Sunday and down a very slim 9.9 percent from last Monday. Wonder continues to
pad its status as one of the bigger surprise hits of the year with a 25-day total of $101.023 M. That already gives Wonder a current total gross to opening weekend ratio of 3.67 to 1. |
A24 and New Line’s The Disaster Artist claimed fourth place with $590 K from 840 locations. That gave The Disaster Artist a healthy daily per-location average of $703.
The Disaster Artist was down 61.2 percent from Sunday and up 494.6 percent over last Monday (when the film was playing in only 19 locations). The eleven-day start for The Disaster Artist stands at a
promising $8.553 M. |
Disney’s Thor: Ragnarok rounded out Monday’s top five with $516 K. Thor: Ragnarok was down 70.5 percent from Sunday and down a very solid 31.5 percent from last Monday. The 39-day total
for Thor: Ragnarok stands at a mighty $301.653 M, which currently ranks the film as the sixth highest grossing 2017 release to date domestically. |
On the platform front, Fox Searchlight’s The Shape of Water grossed $127 K from 41 locations. That gave The Shape of Water an impressive per-location average of $3,097 for the day. The
eleven-day platform start for The Shape of Water stands at $1.4995 M. The Shape of Water will be expanding to additional cities on Friday and into nationwide release the following week on December 22. |
