Disney’s Coco grossed $3.304 M on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a seventh straight day. Coco was up a terrific 42.3 percent over Monday’s performance, as the critically acclaimed
film from Pixar continues to display strong early holding power. In comparison, last year’s Moana increased 36.4 percent on its first Tuesday to gross $3.181 M, while 2010’s Tangled decreased 4.2 percent on its
first Tuesday to take in $1.698 M. The seven-day start for Coco stands at a healthy $78.535 M. That places the film 8.8 percent ahead of the $72.175 M seven-day take of Tangled and just 10.3 percent behind the
$87.593 M seven-day launch of Moana. With its strong early holding power in mind, BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend gross of $28.5 M for Coco. |
Warner’s Justice League held steady in a close second place with $2.959 M. That represented a 40.6 percent increase over Monday and a very sharp 72.0 percent decrease from last Tuesday. The
twelve-day total for Justice League stands at a softer than expected $176.966 M. Justice League is running an underwhelming 24.3 percent behind the $233.877 M twelve-day haul of last year’s Suicide Squad.
BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Justice League will gross $15.7 M in its third weekend. |
Lionsgate’s Wonder took in $1.934 M to remain in third. Wonder was up a very strong 57.9 percent over Monday, but down a sharp 66.0 percent from last Tuesday. Wonder continues to
exceed expectations with an impressive twelve-day take of $72.966 M. The film is running 6.8 percent ahead of the $68.347 M twelve-day haul of 2008’s Bolt and 30.3 percent behind the $104.620 M twelve-day total of
2009’s The Blind Side. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend gross of $12.8 M for Wonder. |
Fox’s Murder on the Orient Express was up one spot and 40.8 percent over Monday to move into fourth place on Tuesday with $1.188 M. The 19-day total for Murder on the Orient Express stands
at a stronger than expected $76.397 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Murder on the Orient Express will gross $7.6 M during its fourth weekend. |
