Daily Box Office Report
Monday, November 13, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Disney’s Thor: Ragnarok grossed $3.699 M on Monday to lead the daily box office for an eleventh consecutive day. That represented a 75.3 percent decline from Sunday and a sharp, but understandable 55.1 percent decline from last Monday. Thor: Ragnarok has grossed a mighty $215.767 M through eleven days of release. The film is running a very impressive 46.5 percent ahead of the $147.307 M eleven-day start of 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and 1.4 percent ahead of the $212.731 M eleven-day take of Spider-Man: Homecoming earlier this year. Thor: Ragnarok will soon be facing new direct competition when Warner’s highly anticipated Justice League enters the marketplace on Friday.

Fox’s Murder on the Orient Express was up one spot from Sunday to move into second place on Monday with $2.337 M. Murder on the Orient Express was down 67.1 percent from Sunday’s performance. Murder on the Orient Express passed the $30 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a stronger than expected $31.019 M in four days. That places the film 12.3 percent ahead of the $27.632 M four-day launch of last year’s The Girl on the Train.

Paramount’s Daddy’s Home 2 was down one spot from Sunday to land in third on Tuesday with $1.530 M. Daddy’s Home 2 was down a very sharp 79.0 percent from Sunday, which indicates that the film is skewing heavily towards family audiences. Daddy’s Home 2 also passed the $30 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed a stronger than expected $31.181 M in four days. The film is running 23.1 percent behind the $40.522 M four-day haul of 2010’s The Other Guys.

STXfilms’ A Bad Moms Christmas placed in fourth with $866 K. That represented a 68.4 percent decrease from Sunday and a very solid 35.3 percent decrease from last Monday. A Bad Moms Christmas passed the $40 M domestic mark yesterday and has grossed $40.699 M through thirteen days of release. That places A Bad Moms Christmas a respectable 29.6 percent behind the $57.838 M thirteen-day gross of last year’s Bad Moms.

Lionsgate’s Jigsaw rounded out Monday’s top five with $277 K. Jigsaw was down 66.0 percent from Sunday and down a sizable 47.7 percent from last Monday. The 18-day total for Jigsaw stands at a solid $34.636 M.

On the platform front, A24’s Lady Bird grossed $110,713 from 37 locations, while Fox Searchlight’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri took in $30,269 from 4 locations in New York and Los Angeles. Respective daily per-location averages on Monday stood at $2,992 for Lady Bird and at $7,567 for Three Billboards.
