Daily Box Office Report
Monday, October 2, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Universal’s American Made moved into first place on Monday with $1.277 M. American Made declined 68.4 percent from Sunday’s performance. The four-day total for American Made stands at $18.053 M, which is on the high end of expectations. American Made is running 26.9 percent behind the $24.701 M four-day start of last year’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Going forward, American Made is likely to hold up better than Jack Reacher: Never Go Back did due in part to significantly stronger critical reviews.

Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle placed in a very close second with $1.184 M. Kingsman: The Golden Circle was down 73.6 percent from Sunday and down a sizable 54.5 percent from last Monday. Kingsman: The Golden Circle has grossed $67.821 M in eleven days, which is a bit below the film’s lofty expectations. The film is running a slim 2.2 percent behind the $69.366 M eleven-day take of 2015’s Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Warner’s IT claimed third place with $1.092 M. For the day, third place was separated from first place by only $184 K. IT continues to stabilize nicely, as the film decreased 73.6 percent from Sunday and a solid 43.0 percent from last Monday. IT has grossed a massive $291.868 M in 25 days, which leaves the film just $8.132 M away from reaching the $300 M domestic milestone.

Sony’s Flatliners took fourth with $441 K for the day. That represented a 72.7 percent decline from Sunday. Flatliners is running just below its already modest expectations with a four-day start of $7.015 M. That places Flatliners 23.4 percent behind the $9.153 M four-day haul of 2011’s The Thing.

Warner’s The LEGO Ninjago Movie rounded out Monday’s top five with $409 K. The LEGO Ninjago Movie was down 87.9 percent from Sunday and down 46.0 percent from last Monday. The LEGO Ninjago Movie has grossed a significantly softer than expected $35.609 M in eleven days. The film is running a discouraging 10.1 percent behind the $39.607 M eleven-day haul of last year’s Storks.
