Daily Box Office Report
Tuesday, September 26, 2017

By Daniel Garris

Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle took in $3.892 M on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a fifth straight day. Kingsman: The Golden Circle was up a healthy 49.6 percent over Monday’s performance. The five-day start for Kingsman: The Golden Circle stands at a solid, but a bit less than expected $45.518 M. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is running a slim 1.1 percent ahead of the $45.045 M five-day launch of 2015’s Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Warner’s IT held steady in second place with $2.432 M. IT increased 26.9 percent over Monday and decreased a sharp 54.6 percent from last Monday. IT has grossed a massive $270.444 M through 19 days of release. That places IT 142.7 percent ahead of the $111.422 M 19-day take of 2013’s The Conjuring just 6.9 percent behind the $290.440 M 19-day haul of last year’s Deadpool.

Fathom Events and Screen Media Films’ one-night event for Jeepers Creepers 3 grossed $1.774 M on Tuesday to place in third for the day. Jeepers Creepers 3 registered a healthy daily per-location average of $2,793 from 635 locations. Jeepers Creepers 3 will receive encore screenings on Wednesday, October 4.

Warner’s The LEGO Ninjago Movie was down one spot from Monday to land in fourth on Tuesday with $1.110 M. The LEGO Ninjago Movie increased 46.5 percent over Monday. The LEGO Ninjago Movie has grossed a significantly softer than expected $22.301 M in five days. That places the film a discouraging 5.1 percent behind the $23.510 M five-day launch of last year’s Storks.

ATMUS Entertainment’s SPYder debuted in fifth place with $1.006 M from 236 locations. That gave the action-thriller from India a strong per-location average of $4,261 for the day. The opening day performance for SPYder was one of the stronger all-time starts for an Indian film in North America.

Lionsgate and CBS Films’ American Assassin took sixth place with $817 K. American Assassin was up 51.9 percent over Monday and down a sharp 54.7 percent from last Tuesday. The twelve-day take for American Assassin stands at $27.539 M, which is in line with expectations.

On the platform front, Fox Searchlight’s Battle of the Sexes grossed $42,067 from 21 locations, while Focus’ Victoria & Abdul took in $14,928 from 4 locations in New York and Los Angeles. Respective five-day platform starts stand at $596 K for Battle of the Sexes and at $189 K for Victoria & Abdul. This coming weekend Battle of the Sexes will be playing in an estimated 1,200 locations, while Victoria & Abdul will expand into additional locations.
