Sunday, which represented the day’s largest daily percentage decline among wide releases. The six-day total for Transformers: The Last Knight stands at $73.194 M, which is on the low end of the film’s scaled back
expectations. Transformers: The Last Knight is running 43.1 percent behind the $128.685 M six-day start of 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction (which opened on a Friday) and 59.5 percent ahead of the
$45.896 M six-day take of 2015’s Terminator Genisys. |
Warner’s Wonder Woman placed in second with $3.067 M. Wonder Woman continued to display strong holding power as the film declined 58.9 percent from Sunday and a very solid 36.2 percent
from last Monday (when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). Wonder Woman has grossed $321.179 M through 25 days. Yesterday saw Wonder Woman surpass the total domestic grosses of 2008’s Iron Man
($318.412 M) & 2007’s Transformers ($319.246 M) to move into 53rd place on the all-time unadjusted domestic list. Either today or Wednesday, Wonder Woman will pass the $325.100 M final gross of last year’s
Suicide Squad. |
Disney’s Cars 3 claimed third place with $2.909 M. Cars 3 decreased 57.4 percent from Sunday and a sizable 46.9 percent from last Monday. Cars 3 passed the $100 M domestic mark
yesterday and has grossed $101.691 M through eleven days of release. That places the film 4.1 percent ahead of the $97.719 M eleven-day take of 2014’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 and 17.0 percent behind the
$122.560 M eleven-day gross of 2011’s Cars 2. Cars 3 will soon be facing major new competition for family audiences when Universal’s Despicable Me 3 enters the marketplace on Friday. |
Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures’ 47 Meters Down took fourth with $1.028 M. 47 Meters Down continued to hold up very nicely, as the film was down 49.6 percent from Sunday and down
just 32.3 percent from last Monday. The eleven-day gross for 47 Meters Down stands at a stronger than expected $24.942 M. 47 Meters Down is running a respectable 32.2 percent behind the $36.780 M eleven-day
gross of last year’s The Shallows. |
Universal’s The Mummy and Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales placed in fifth and sixth on Monday with respective daily grosses of $774K and $702K. The Mummy
decreased 58.3 percent from Sunday and 51.3 percent from last Monday, while Dead Men Tell No Tales declined 54.7 percent from Sunday and 35.2 percent from last Monday. Respective total grosses stand at $69.519 M in
18 days for The Mummy and at $160.864 M in 32 days for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. |
On the platform front, Lionsgate’s The Big Sick grossed $40,700 from 5 locations in New York & Los Angeles, while Focus’ The Beguiled took in $24,984 from 4 locations in New York &
Los Angeles. Respective daily per-location averages were $8,140 for The Big Sick and $6,246 for The Beguiled. The Big Sick has grossed $462 K in 4 days and The Beguiled has grossed $254 K over
the same 4-day span. On Friday The Beguiled will expand into moderate release, while The Big Sick will expand into select cities. |
