Warner’s Wonder Woman took in $6.266 M on Monday to easily lead the daily box office for an eleventh consecutive day. Wonder Woman declined 66.7 percent from Sunday and a respectable
46.7 percent from last Monday. It should be noted that Wonder Woman and the marketplace in general faced added competition on Monday night from Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The eleven-day total for Wonder Woman
stands at a strong $212.609 M. Wonder Woman is running 16.9 percent ahead of the $181.860 M eleven-day gross of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and a slim 0.9 percent behind the $214.615 M eleven-day take of
2013’s Man of Steel. Thanks to much stronger holding power, Wonder Woman will be overtaking the pace of Man of Steel in the very near future. |
Universal’s The Mummy placed in second with $2.591 M. The Mummy fell 68.2 percent from Sunday’s performance. The four-day total for The Mummy stands at $34.259 M, which is towards
the lower end of the film’s scaled back expectations. The Mummy is running 22.6 percent ahead of the $27.948 M four-day start of 2015’s Fantastic Four and an underwhelming 23.4 percent behind the $44.706 M
four-day launch of 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. While The Mummy is performing softly domestically with its price tag in mind, the film is performing far stronger internationally. |
Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie claimed third place with $1.363 M. Captain Underpants was down 62.1 percent from Sunday and down just 31.9 percent
from last Monday. Captain Underpants continues to perform in line with expectations with an eleven-day total of $45.806 M. That places the film 3.7 percent ahead of the $44.191 M eleven-day take of last year’s
Ice Age: Collision Course. Captain Underpants is likely to take a big hit this coming weekend from Disney’s Cars 3 entering the marketplace. |
Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales took fourth with $1.280 M. Dead Men Tell No Tales decreased 61.1 percent from Sunday and 49.2 percent from last Monday. The
18-day total for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales stands at $137.111 M. That is on the low end of expectations and places the film 28.6 percent behind the $192.058 M 18-day take of 2011’s
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. |
Fellow Disney release Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rounded out Monday’s top five with $762 K. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was down 60.1 percent from Sunday and down only 30.7 percent
from last Monday. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has grossed a massive $367.193 M in 39 days, which places the film 24.3 percent ahead of the $295.487 M 39-day haul of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. |
A24’s It Comes At Night followed in sixth place with $604 K. It Comes At Night declined 57.4 percent from Sunday’s performance. It Comes At Night has grossed $6.592 M in four
days, which is below expectations and places the film 30.7 percent behind the $9.516 M four-day start of last year’s The Witch. |
