Universal’s The Fate of the Furious grossed $2.111 M on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a thirteenth straight day. The Fate of the Furious slowed 39.9 percent from Tuesday and 56.8 percent from last Wednesday. The Fate of the Furious has grossed $171.391 M in 13 days, which places the film 5.0 percent behind the $180.349 13-day take of 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a first place third weekend gross of $21.5 M for The Fate of the Furious this weekend.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast took in $663 K to remain in second. Beauty and the Beast was down 30.6 percent from Tuesday and down 49.0 percent from last Wednesday. With a 41-day gross of $473.039 M, Beauty and the Beast will soon pass by the $474.55 M lifetime gross of 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace to move into ninth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic chart. BoxOfficeReport is predicting $6.5 M for Beauty and the Beast this weekend.

Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby held steady in third place with $536 K. The Boss Baby declined 36.8 percent from Tuesday and a sharp 61.2 percent from last Wednesday. The 27-day total for The Boss Baby stands at a stronger than expected $138.889 M. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a $9.0 M take for The Boss Baby this weekend.

Warner’s Going in Style took fourth with $474 K, while Fox Searchlight’s Gifted followed in fifth with $386 K. Going in Style decreased 34.1 percent from Tuesday and 39.4 percent from last Wednesday. Gifted declined 39.7 percent from Tuesday and a slim 2.1 percent from last Wednesday. Respective 20-day grosses stand at $33.289 M for Going in Style and at $12.166 M for Gifted.

New releases occupied places six through eight on Wednesday. Disneynature’s Born in China took sixth with $383 K, Warner’s Unforgettable claimed seventh with $373 K and Open Road’s The Promise placed in eighth with $364 K. Respective six-day grosses stand at $6.064 M for Born in China, at $6.183 M for Unforgettable and at $5.362 M for The Promise.
