Universal’s The Fate of the Furious grossed $4.892 M on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a sixth consecutive day. However, the film was down a sharp 40.0 percent from Tuesday, which
easily represented the largest daily percentage decline among wide releases yesterday. In comparison, 2015’s Furious 7 fell 31.0 percent on its first Wednesday to take in $9.188 M, while 2013’s Fast & Furious 6
was down 28.0 percent to gross $5.780 M. The Fate of the Furious is performing a bit below its lofty domestic expectations with a six-day start of $120.353 M. That places the film 34.5 percent behind the $183.702 M

Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby grossed $1.380 M to remain in second place. The Boss Baby was down 27.1 percent from Tuesday and down a sizable 49.0 percent from last

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast held steady in third with $1.300 M. Beauty and the Beast declined 23.4 percent from Tuesday and a respectable 45.0 percent from last Wednesday. Beauty and the Beast

Warner’s Going in Style continued to claim fourth with $783 K, while Sony’s Smurfs: The Lost Village rounded out the day’s unchanged top five with $675 K. Going in Style was down
28.0 percent from Tuesday and down just 31.1 percent from last Wednesday. Smurfs: The Lost Village decreased 26.5 percent from Tuesday and 42.5 percent from last Wednesday. Respective thirteen-day grosses stand at a

Fox Searchlight’s Gifted remained in sixth place with $394 K. Gifted was down 27.9 percent from Tuesday and down a very slim 9.7 percent from last Wednesday. Gifted has grossed
$5.811 M in eleven days and will be playing in 1,986 locations this weekend after receiving another expansion on Friday. |
