Universal’s The Fate of the Furious took in $8.150 M on Tuesday to easily lead the daily box office for a fifth straight day. The Fate of the Furious was down a slim 4.4 percent from Monday’s performance. In comparison, 2015’s Furious 7 declined 5.0 percent on its first Tuesday to gross $13.312 M, while Fast & Furious 6 fell 59.2 percent on its first Tuesday from its inflated Memorial Day performance to claim $8.029 M. The Fate of the Furious has grossed $115.461 M in its first five days. The film is running 33.8 percent behind the $174.515 M five-day start of Furious 7 and 7.7 percent behind the $125.037 M five-day take of Fast & Furious 6.

Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby held steady in second with $1.895 M. The Boss Baby was down 33.0 percent from Monday’s inflated post-Easter take and down 44.1 percent from last Tuesday. The Boss Baby has grossed a stronger than expected $121.515 M in 19 days. That places the film 19.0 percent ahead of the $102.130 M 19-day take of last year’s Kung Fu Panda 3 and 7.1 percent behind the $130.867 M 19-day haul of 2015’s Home.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast grossed $1.697 M to remain in third. Beauty and the Beast decreased 19.8 percent from Monday and 42.6 percent from last Tuesday. The 33-day total for Beauty and the Beast stands at a massive $458.533 M. Beauty and the Beast currently ranks in twelfth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic chart and will pass the $459.006 M total gross of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron today to move into eleventh place on the list.

Warner’s Going in Style was up one spot from Monday to move into fourth on Tuesday with $1.088 M, while Sony’s Smurfs: The Lost Village was down one spot to land in fifth with $919 K. Going in Style increased 34.3 percent over Monday and decreased 41.0 percent from last Tuesday. Smurfs: The Lost Village fell 31.5 percent from Monday and 42.3 percent from last Tuesday. Respective twelve-day grosses stand at a respectable $25.218 M for Going in Style and at a softer than expected $27.205 M for Smurfs: The Lost Village.

Fox Searchlight’s Gifted held steady in sixth place with $547 K. Gifted was up a healthy 33.8 percent from Monday and earned a daily per-location average of $477 for the day. The film’s twelve-day total stands at $5.416 M. Gifted is scheduled to receive another significant expansion on Friday.
