Disney’s Beauty and the Beast grossed $3.166 M on Thursday to lead the daily box office for a fourth straight day. Beauty and the Beast increased 3.7 percent over Wednesday and decreased 47.7 percent from last Thursday. For the week, Beauty and the Beast placed in a close second with $59.377 M. That was down 50.2 percent from the previous frame and brings the film’s three-week total to a massive $407.294 M. Beauty and the Beast is running 54.8 percent ahead of the $263.112 M 21-day take of last year’s The Jungle Book and 29.1 percent ahead of the $315.570 M 21-day gross of 2012’s The Hunger Games.

Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby took in $2.702 M to remain in a close second. The film was down a very slim 0.7 percent from Wednesday’s performance. The Boss Baby was the week’s top film with a stronger than expected seven-day start of $63.073 M. In comparison to previous DreamWorks Animation films, The Boss Baby is running 7.0 percent ahead of the $58.964 M seven-day take of last year’s Trolls and 7.6 percent behind the $68.230 M seven-day gross of 2015’s Home.

Paramount and DreamWorks’ Ghost in the Shell held steady in third place with $1.151 M. Ghost in the Shell was up a slim 0.2 percent over Wednesday. Ghost in the Shell took third place for the week with a softer than expected seven-day start of $24.223 M. That was just ahead of the $23.791 M seven-day haul of 2011’s Sucker Punch, but a disappointing 60.5 percent softer than the $61.287 M seven-day take of 2014’s Lucy.

Lionsgate’s Saban’s Power Rangers grossed $861 K to remain in fourth. Power Rangers was down just 1.0 percent from Wednesday and down 53.3 percent from last Thursday. For the week, Power Rangers finished in fourth with $18.334 M. That represented a sharp 63.7 percent decline from the film’s opening week performance but also brings the film’s two-week total to a solid $68.896 M.

Warner’s Kong: Skull Island rounded out the day’s unchanged top five with $700 K. Kong: Skull Island was up 2.9 percent from Wednesday and down a very solid 36.5 percent from last Thursday. The film placed in fifth for the week with $11.682 M. Kong: Skull Island was down 41.5 percent from the previous week and continues to exceed expectations with a four-week take of $150.730 M.

Focus’ The Zookeeper’s Wife rounded out its first week of moderate release with a ninth place take of $323 K. The Zookeeper’s Wife placed in tenth for the week with a seven-day start of $4.715 M from just 541 locations. The film will be playing in 806 locations this weekend and is expected to hold up well due in part to its expansion.
