Disney’s Beauty and the Beast took in $3.054 M on Wednesday to lead the daily box office for a third consecutive day. Beauty and the Beast was down 33.2 percent from Tuesday and down 51.5
percent from last Wednesday (when the film was still playing on IMAX screens). Beauty and the Beast has grossed $404.128 M in 20 days, which currently places the film in 23rd place on the all-time unadjusted domestic
chart. The film is running 54.6 percent ahead of the $261.334 M 20-day gross of last year’s The Jungle Book and 29.2 percent ahead of the $312.738 M 20-day gross of 2012’s The Hunger Games. BoxOfficeReport is
predicting a close second place finish of $26.5 M for Beauty and the Beast this weekend. |
Fox and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby held steady in second place with $2.720 M. The Boss Baby was down a sizable 37.8 percent from Tuesday and trailed Beauty and the Beast
by $334 K on Wednesday. The Boss Baby continues to exceed expectations with a six-day start of $60.371 M. In comparison to previous DreamWorks Animation films, The Boss Baby is running 7.5 percent ahead of the
$56.143 M six-day take of last year’s Trolls and 5.3 percent behind the $63.721 M six-day gross of 2015’s Home. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a first place take of $27.5 M for The Boss Baby this weekend. |
Paramount and DreamWorks’ Ghost in the Shell grossed $1.149 M to remain in third. Ghost in the Shell was down a sharp 40.3 percent from Tuesday, which isn’t a good sign for the film as it
heads into its second weekend of release. Ghost in the Shell has grossed a softer than expected $23.072 M in six days. That places the film slightly ahead of the $22.817 M six-day take of 2011’s Sucker Punch.
BoxOfficeReport is predicting a second weekend gross of $7.3 M for Ghost in the Shell. |
Lionsgate’s Saban’s Power Rangers took in $870 K to continue to claim fourth. Power Rangers declined 39.3 percent from Tuesday and a sharp 58.4 percent from last Wednesday. Despite early
front-loading, Power Rangers has grossed a solid $68.035 M in thirteen days. The film is running 3.8 percent ahead of the $65.562 M thirteen-day take of last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
BoxOfficeReport is predicting a third weekend gross of $6.8 M for Power Rangers. |
Warner’s Kong: Skull Island rounded out the day’s unchanged top five with $680 K. In the process, Kong: Skull Island became the fifth release of 2017 to surpass the $150 M domestic mark.
The 27-day total for Kong: Skull Island stands at $150.030 M. Kong: Skull Island was down 33.4 percent from Tuesday and down 43.0 percent from last Wednesday. BoxOfficeReport is predicting a gross of $5.7 M
for Kong: Skull Island this weekend. |

hold. The Zookeeper’s Wife has grossed $4.392 M in six days from just 541 locations. The Zookeeper’s Wife will be receiving an expansion on Friday and will be playing in 806 locations this weekend. BoxOfficeReport
is predicting a second weekend take of $3.5 M for The Zookeeper’s Wife. |
